4 Useful Registry Hacks for Windows 8 ~ YoTechME

1) Change No. of Rows :-

Directory:- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid

- Create a DWORD (32-bit) Value named : Layout_MaximumRowCount
- Enter the no. of rows you want. (Maximum = 6)
- After entering, Sign Out and Sign to see the change.

2) Set Border Size of Explorer

Directory : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

- Search for 'BorderWidth' key and open it.
- Default Value will be 15 ( You Can Change it to 0-50)

3) Change Vertical/Horizontal Spacing of Desktop Icons

Directory : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

- Search for “IconSpacing” and “IconVerticalSpacing” keys and open them.
- Default Value will be 1125 (Increase the value to increase space between Desktop Icons)

4) Start Screen Animation Hack
Directory :-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ImmersiveShell\Grid

- Create a DWORD (32-bit) Value named : Launcher_SessionLoginAnimation_OnShow
- Open it and give it the value as 1.
- Close Registry Editor and open Start Screen.
- See the new hidden effect enabled.
